Poor quality, broke in 2 years

Got this unit New with our new house two years ago. The magnetron broke last week and it's "outside of warranty", requiring a $160 service call and 4 hours off of work just to look at the unit. That's almost half the cost of a new one - more if you consider the lost productivity time. I'm very disappointed Whirlpool. And your telephone customer service rep showed zero concern or care that this thing had broken only two years into its life. These things should last a LOT longer than that.

Recently purchased a new townhome and selected the upgrade whirlpool appliances for my kitchen; microwave is vented directly to the outside; problem I have is that grease goes right into the cabinet doors located above the microwave; if I sautéed veggies, or brown meats, cook eggs, etc., whether on the front burners or back burners, it appears that nothing is caught in the filters and is deposited on the cabinet doors - it is a mess to clean-up; whirlpool has visited, and their response - that's just how it is! Not acceptable in my book. Very disappointed.

We purchased this microwave in March of 2018. Three months ago we noticed plastic pieces falling from the microwave door, then some more plastic from other parts of the microwave. The interior frame of the unit has completely broken away from inside the door and compromised the ability to use the keyboard therefore reducing this to a $360 piece of junk. Never again Whirlpool!

Problems already with this microwave

Bought this microwave through Lowes in March 2018... the door had a malfunction within the first 3 months of use, where it wouldn't work and would give an error code.... so we had to replace it... Now, out of its warranty period, door is doing the same thing and pieces of plastic broke off of the microwave door, and the door won't shut completely. Would have thought that the microwave would at least make it to 2 years before we would have to replace it, but I guess not. Poor quality with this one.

Great addition to the kitchen

I bought this model when we were remodeling our kitchen. The main features the sold me on this model were: 1) the touch panel was glass like a cell phone which meant the panel was responsive and easy to clean and will not crack after multiple presses. 2) the handle was inset on the side which gave it a very clean look. If it had a external handle it would have not matched the handles on the cabinets. 3)the cooking options were well designed. After using for some time now it I found it preformed great for cooking and melting things.

I bought this as a replacement microwave to my 3 1/2 yr old GE. I had WP at my prior home and loved it. This model is a bit more complicated than I need, but I bought the name and this particular model due to the Consumer Report high rating score. I love that there is no handle as I would have had to buy GE again. I didn't want a mismatch with handle styles in my kitchen. I didn't realize that this model has a blue light for the time and all my other appliances are green. Not a big deal....unless you don't like blue! It is quiet and does the job. Had to look at the manual to find out how to "start" cooking. There is no start button, but an arrow...and no cancel button, but an X. I only need a basic microwave...so I probably over paid for features I will never ever use. I also don't like that the controls are not backlit...you have to turn on the light to see. A great idea would be to have an option that would give you that light.

I would not recommend buying a product from Whirlpool. We ordered this microwave from Home Depot and it was delivered to our home. When our contractors went to install the item it was missing entire part that goes down into the machine. To fix the item you would have to take it apart. We brought the item back to Home Depot two weeks after being delivered. Home Depot said when calling Whirl pool they received terrible costumer service. They were told they would not take it back and we would have to have a local whirlpool contractor to fix the item. We spent over an hour in the store while Home Depot tried to contact whirlpool. They were told they kept being put on hold and she said the person was not helpful. Home Depot was nice enough to take the item back but we now have to wait until the 21st for delivery . After this experience with whirlpool I will never buy this brand again.

Lasted a year, terrible customer service

All whirlpool appliances were installed with new construction house by builder. I called whirlpool last year telling them that Microwave keeps saying open and close the door whereas the door was always closed properly. However, opening and closing the door resolved the issue temporarily until yesterday. The unit has its light on and sign displaying "open and close door". It won't run or respond to anything. My warranty was until February and whirlpool not only declined to look at this unit earlier but also rejected my service calls for my refrigerator. Now I'm stuck with broken microwave which is just a year old and a faulty refrigerator. I'll not recommend getting this product or any whirlpool appliance since they don't stand by their products and blame customers until warranty expires.

Great features accurate sensor

I bought this six months ago to replace an aging unit. After having this installed the whole family felt like it was Christmas. This is the best microwave I've ever used and I've used a lot of them. The neatest feature is that the controls are hidden in the front door bottom, very slick.

Great features, very quiet

We are very pleased with our whirlpool microwave. The control touch pad is across the bottom allowing the interior oven space to be much larger than the oven we replaced. There is a nice selection of preprogrammed functions. The microwave oven is extremely quiet.

Had this installed a couple of weeks ago and it is the best microwave I ever used. It is easy to use and easy to clean. Haven't tried the steam cooking yet but I can't wait to try it.
