Disappointed with Whirlpool

I bought this microwave about a year and a half ago and installed it about a year ago after letting it sit in the box in the basement waiting for me to free up time. After about 10 months it started acting up with the interior lights flickering on and off when the door opened to just now refusing to work at all stating the door open / close message that I'm seeing now online is very common to this model. And then when I go online to get new door switches I'm stunned that 2 of the 3 are over $20 each! So to replace the 3 switches I'm gonna have to spend over $50 when I bought the whole thing new for $229. Sounds like whirlpool is making a ton on spares for their parts. How many times should I do this repair before I swap it out with a different brand!

We bought this to replace our 22 year old Sharp microwave. We are pleased that it doesn't have a button to open the door because our old one broke and couldn't be replaced. We like the add 30 seconds timer

Can't get it to work

I bought this almost a year ago. Just installed it yesterday because we just completed the kitchen reno. The fan and the light works. We tested the microwave with a cup of room temperature water and it's still cold. We press cook time - cook power 100% - start and still nothing. We referred to the problem solving section of the manual and tried all the steps related to the operation. The control button doesn't respond. We are frustrated because it doesn't need a rocket scientist to operate a microwave. We are done.

Purchased in September for a new home being built and I could hardly wait to use it! Finally in December I was able to use it. We purchased ALL Whirlpool appliances (7 total) for our new in-law addition on my daughter's house. This looks good and works fantastic! Thanks Whirlpool!

This microwave was installed new in fall, 2017. We purchased it to match all of our other whirlpool appliances in our new home. It started acting up in summer, 2018. First the light would come on intermittently when the door was opened, Then the turntable would intermittently keep turning after the door was opened. Then it started not starting after a time was input, indicating that the door needed to be opened / closed. The final failure is that it stopped working all together in January, 2019. I just bought a replacement of the same model because, and only because, I do not want to have to remount the wall bracket on the glass back-splash. Hopefully this one holds up better.

This microwave was installed new in the summer of 2017 in a newly built home. It began acting possessed in early November of 2018 (turntable would continue after the door was opened and light wouldn't turn on intermittently when the door was opened). Now the microwave is dead. I've read other reviews which seem to indicate an issue with a door open sensor. Not sure if this is the issue or not but it's a downer on a new home that we love. We requested Whirlpool stove, microwave and dishwasher be installed when the house was built so it would match the refrigerator we already had. I'm thinking that was a mistake now.

Our Maytag quit after 8 years. Went shopping for new one. Great match to our stove, price was right and features are easy to use. Does a nice job on popcorn.Nice job on hot cereal and scrambled eggs in the morning. Still getting acquainted with my new microwave-great so far.

This microwave came with my new home. If you want to warm something up for one minute you have to put it at least 3 minutes. I've had several microwaves in my lifetime but I've never see anything like this. It's brand new. I had one I bought for $100 at Walmart that works better than this one.

I bought this to replace a large microwave/convection oven that took up much of my counter space. When the box was delivered, I worried that the oven would be so big that it would be hard to access the stove beneath it. But the opposite is true. With the fan and light right above the stove, I can see what I am doing and I have less fumes and smoke in the kitchen.

Everyone who has owned this unit for 2 weeks and loves it will be rewriting a review like this one. The door sensor starts to go bad. Will have to open and close the door many times to clear the issue and then once the warranty is up everything else will quit working. Whirlpool promptly responds sorry to hear about it we'd like to get more info. And then they disregard everything. Good Luck.
