Build Like a Tank.... full function... ease of use

We bought the compatible model of the washer 5 years ago which we use every day. Although it is sold as a home user product, it is built like a commercial product. We have burned through two other sets of washers in driers from other "premier brands" over the past 10 years. There is no comparison! When we got this machine I was impressed. Now 7 months later we have had to replace the motor. It is loud now and we were told other parts will have to be replaced later. I thought this was a great machine but now have lots of concerns. Very disappointed in this product

I certainly wish I would have just had my old Speed Queen washer and dryer repaired, they were a lot quieter and more user-friendly. The fryer has a loud rubbing sound when starting and running - after a while, the rubbing quiets down but the loudness of the dryer is annoying. Response from the repairman "It's a commercial dryer it's going to be loud, as for the rubbing this dryer has the best warranty you can get. just wait and see if anything happens." Not impressive at all! It also take a long time to dry a half load of clothing.

The dryer doesn't shut off

My dryer will go on for hours and hours if I don't turn it off. We called as it is under warranty and they told us the companies that do their warranty work. None of them would do it - either we had to carry the dryer to the store or they wouldn't do it because we didn't buy it from them. My husband called and asked if we could use someone else. They said they would email me and they never did. I am pretty frustrated.

Some what of a problem hooking up the dryer as there was something rattling behind the drum so the whole thing had to be taken apart. Once that was fixed, it worked great.

I was very excited to purchase a Speed Queen since they come so highly recommended. So far my experience has some highlights and lowlights. The good: love the inside lint filter, very easy to remove and it produces very little lint. The drying time is quick on the 2 cycles I've used. The cons: very noisy compared to previous dryers I've owned. I usually have to close the door to the laundry room because it's quite loud. Lastly, the interior drum is pretty small. Not a big deal since there are only 2 of us but if I was doing laundry for more than 2, it would be an issue.

I wanted to get into a Speed Queen because so many friends told me it was the best for long life and I had a new LG which I did not like. It was to deep, and when I stood on a stool to get my clothes out the setting would go off. However this SQ dryer is very loud when it runs!! I put an old pillow down the one side against the wall to help dull the noise. And the setting know is stiff, hard to figure out what I am selecting and where the actual "start" area for each setting is. Last I've even had to run some cycles twice because it does not dry our towels dry - they are still damp.

Commercial Quality for your home

All the federal regulations that supposedly make washers and dryers high-efficient are anything but, leading consumers to see commercial versions to get quality. While I admit SpeedQueen could do more to make these machines more attractive, I don't really care what they look like but I do care how well they work. As for this dryer, it is excellent in functionality. The only functional improvements I would recommend is to make the lint basket removable for easier cleaning and have a function that disengages the "buzzer" when the door is open. All the other dryers I've owned, when I open the door the timer still runs, but the buzzer will not sound off. This drives my wife crazy when it goes off while she is reaching into the dryer. It's kind of like hitting the car horn while your head is under the hood. She thinks she's about to get electrocuted each time. Eventually she will remember to stop the timer, but that not a natural act before opening the dryer.

Not what you'd expect of a dryer

I am pleasantly surprised at the quickness in the drying time. Most loads dry in half the amount of time as the Samsung dryer I previously owned. The dryer is much lighter & has a much smaller body than the newest dryers sold normally as in sets with front load washers. Although the body is smaller the capacity for the drying load is the same. The machine is American made & I am thrilled that it is. I hope to use this dryer for many years to come & I'm sure I will! TY Speed Queen for making a quality product that will hold u to daily use.

Problems after first week

We had one week until the idler and wheels started making noises...along with a grinding noise! The technician who serviced the machine from Warner's Stellian had to replace the idler and rollers but had to order a new drum and braces. We can use the dryer but makes lots of noise. Very disappointed in quality since prices are so high.

Love the light in the dryer. Love the options. My only concern is you almost have to force the knob to turn to the selection you need. Very stiff and hard to turn. Doesn't seem right. Unlike the washer which moves normally.

Bought dryer in January 2023. It started making black grease marks on our white clothes March 2023. Repairman didn't have the parts to repair it. He said would order parts and come back. The part was supposed to be available mid April. The part still isn't available & Speed Queen customer service can't tell me when it will be. In the meantime, I have to go to the laundromat to dry white clothes.

Washer does not clean clothes as well as old GE set. Makeup rags come out with makeup remaining, dirt still in clothing. Dryer either melts some materials, or takes two cycles to dry. Too expensive for what it is. (2 service calls)

I only have 2 complaints. The door is way too hard to open-maybe will loosen with wear. Also there isn't much room when setting more or less dry. The dial has so much tension I'm not quite sure I have it right as it pulls back a little when releasing it plus its hard to see where line is exactly. Clothes comes out nice and flufffy though.
