Worst ever AC

Have to get it warranty repaired, and waiting now 3 weeks because the parts are on backorder. It's the middle of the summer, it's over 100 every day here in Arizona, and they are taking a ridiculously long time to get a little pump, basically it's an aquarium pump. UNBELIEVABLE. And a new issue, the thing is surging constantly. Someone else said it sounds like a diesel engine. Well it's that type of surge. It's happening on low speed, high speed, whenever the compressor is on. Doesn't bother me during the day, as I'm working, but at night it's waking me up with this ridiculous surging and pulsing noise. Compressor is bad or the bearing in the fan are bad. In any case, this is very bad. I've owned several different brands of window AC's and none of them have done this. So two major issues, and haven't even had it 6 months. I cannot NOT recommend this AC loudly enough. The fact they can't get parts makes it seems like a lot of people are having the same issue and they didn't keep enough in US warehouses to cover all the replacements. It's really unacceptable that in the middle of a blistering summer it's taken them three weeks so far I just want it replaced, this surging issue is outrageous and costing me sleep. Have to turn the thing off for a few minutes, wait and then turn it back on, on low, so it doesn't surge for a few minutes so I can get back to sleep. Couple hours, starts it all up again and wakes me up. BAD for my health!!

Overall, this is a good air conditioner and I™™m giving it four stars. The ClearView design works particularly well for the location where I have it installed, and the unit does a good job cooling the room. My main complaints are noise, vibration, and efficiency. It™™s noticeably noisier and has more vibration than the LG Dual Inverter unit I have in another room. The LG has virtually no vibration by comparison. I™™m also seeing roughly 30% higher energy usage with the GE under my typical use. That said, the unique design of this unit made it a better fit for this particular window and location. Overall, I™™m happy with it. If GE could improve the efficiency and reduce the noise and vibration, it would be an easy five-star product.

The unit works great. The connection to wifi was easy and is nice to have. The app allowed me to program the unit like a home thermostat. So far (1 month) the unit has cooled well. The unit is quiet inside the house on all settings, but almost silent in quiet mode. When outside, the outside portion is a bit noisy. This is from the water recirculation that is used to provide the energy efficiency. My only complaint was installation. It was detailed and explained everything except for the 'slide' portion that links the inside and outside parts. I ended up with it farther apart that it needed to be. I was still able to secure with the tension bolts. It would be nice if more detail could be given for this part. Maybe there is a video on YouTube, I did not look.

Broke in a few months and awful for several reason

I'm having this warranty repaired after a few months, the pump that whisks the water from the ront tank to the fan stopped working. This is the most horrible design of a window AC I have seen. There is a PLUG on the INSIDE because there is a water pan built into it in the interior of the house. This pan fills up, the little tiny pump is supposed to suck up the water and send it to the back, where the fan picks it up from the exterior pan, sends it into the evaporator coils to dispense it out. Or it runs out the back plug if it gets too full. If the pan in the inside gets too full, there is a cap and you pull out a plug and drain it into a bucket you're holding there to get the water out. Horrible. If the pump stops working like mine did, the AC will SHUT DOWN with an FL code error and will not run until you drain it. While I am waiting for the warranty guy to come back - because you have to take the AC completely out of the wall/window for them to fix this - I have had to hook up a garden hose to the fitting, and run it out the wall down by the baseboard to keep the thing running so it doesn't fill up and the water goes out the hose to the outside. Who ever heard of such a ridiculous stupid hookup to have possible leaks inside your house or having to hold a bucket up there to drain the water if the tiny little pump can't keep up or gets plugged? This is about the dumbest design I've ever seen. Not to mention, the remote is just a plain old remote with buttons, no visible feedback on the remote itself. And if you have it installed up the wall like I do, you really don't know what it's getting set to when pressing the remote buttons, without getting up and actually looking up there to see it. This is stupid, and Midea definitely has GE beat bigtime as far as the remote goes. I own both. The GE is a bit quieter, but much more of a PITA to use with this remote, and obviously it broke down within just a few months of installation. I cannot be without one in my home office in the Arizona heat, so I actually had to drill a 1 inch hole in the wall to let the water go out a hose while waiting for the warranty repair. You decide. Do you want possible leaks inside your home from a non-conventional design unlike any other window AC on the market? Do you want to hold a bucket up there to drain the thing? Do you want to have an AC with a remote that's straight out of the 80's? I'm thoroughly disappointed.

After 2 years this model started vibrating to the point where I had to wedge a piece of rubber into the frame to keep the copper tubing from hitting the external casing. Bad design! And at some points the vibrations are so bad that the whole room seems to be shaking.

Very disappointed! I did alot of research to find the right unit. Based on reviews I chose the profile. I bought it in Sept which in the south it is still hot, Worked great through Nov. I turned it off for the winter. Late March I started using it again, by May it wasn't working. Repair man came quickly, said it was fixed. It worked a week. Called them back they came quickly said it was the pump. Had to order it gonna take 2 weeks. It's already 90 out but ok 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and I got a message saying part was on back order and won't be ship until the end of July. I called them to just replace the unit. It's 110 heat index by then in the south. I explained that I'm elderly and disabled and that wasn't gonna be acceptable. They refused to replace the unit because they already ordered the part. I had a heat stroke last week. I will be contacting an attorney. They could have prevented this and refused. I spent 800.00 on this unit and paid for extra service protection to avoid this very thing. Don't waste your money on this product.

My daughter bought this same machine on 6/3/25 only it was a 8300 BTU. it was installed and worked beautifully for 3 mos. It was put away for winter. It was put back in on 6/23 for the upcoming heat wave. it immediatelyshowed a P1 and had to keep draining water. The pump failed. I had together a few one immediately because I am 88 yrs old. I got a 10300 this time because I love it. I will get the other one fixed but to should not have happened. I am a big GE FAN. Do better GE. ty for reading my rant.

Damaged on Review

I removed this unit from an undamaged box to find the following: 1. Some of the exterior cooling fins were damaged; 2. The steel case was bent just above the control panel; 3. Several of the control panels LEs do not illuminate, including the "ECO" indicator, and portions of the temperature numbers. This unit was damaged before it was packaged, then shipped in that condition to the store where I purchased it. Photos provided.

Very quiet but lost the water pump year 2

Extremely quiet for a window unit and love the ability to continue using the window. However, water pump quit on the second season of summer before it really even began. P1 code and a bucket to drain the water. Drain lines are all clear and patent and wires are firmly in place but pump fails to move water from inside the house to outside. Hoping it™™s just this one part. Connectivity is easy with the app. Seems to use less energy than my last unit. So far I have 2 of these units and 2 of the newer 12,300 BTU units (4 total) (CT). Covers large rooms and keeps them cool and quiet.

Tripping off issue

The air conditioner unit looks nice, but last year (after under 2 summers of use) the AC unit didn't blow very cold air anymore. I thought maybe last year it was a fluke, but same issues this year. The drains have been checked and no errors are being shown. For this price, I expected it last longer than 2 summers. I purchased this unit new on May 22, 2024. On May 17, 2026 I got the dreaded FL error code. The manual says to drain via the side port and if that doesn't work, unplug it for a bit and the plug it back in. And if that doesn't work then the pump needs to be serviced. Two years. My $600 purchase lasted me two years and that's two years of ownership, not runtime. I live in Western Ny and our summers are short, it doesn't start to warm up until June and I used this unit in a bedroom so I wouldn't have to run my central air when I slept. So total runtime for 2 years, MAYBE 10 months at the most a few hours a day at 69 degrees. Awesome. This unit only has a 1 year factory warranty and GE Bodewell service wants $115 just to come to my house and that's not including parts and service.

Lots of air gaps inherent in the design, despite significant efforts on my part to try to seal them all. Smart home support is frustrating. No Apple HomeKit, even though you used to support it? Remote has an annoying requirement to 'wake up' the device with an extra button press. You can disable this, but then the lights stay on permanently.

It has done quite well with cooling, and I'm sure it would be better if where I had it setup at would have better insulation and windows, and the features are nice as well. It is a big improvement over the old one that I had where the whole unit was in the room and ran a hose to the window to vent. I believe in the years to come I will still be very happy with it once the warm temp`hit the great frozen North.

The AC is nice and the fact that allows for more window makes a huge difference. It™™s not as loud as a conventional AC however it does vibrate more than I would like it to be.

We purchased this ac for its low window profile and reduced noise levels. Its super quiet on low and Medium, and not to bad on high. HOWEVER our unit worked perfectly for Three months before it started making a strange sound and shuts down. Nowit basically doesn't even turn on. Customer service has been great, and helpfull so there's that. Its a great concept and Im hopefully the bugs can get worked out.

I bought this GE Low Profile window unit as a replacement for another big name brand one which constantly leaked all over our window sill and caused a huge mold and mildew problem. Installation on this unit was much easier and better engineered than the competition. It™™s also very quiet and efficient, and easily cools our guest bedroom. The only thing I would advise GE to consider is: please provide a little more installation foam for those of us who have windows wider than 40 inches. My window is 47 inches wide and I had to customize the fit.

Noisy and leaking

I loved my GE Profile AC for the first weeks but after that it became very noisy and started leaking water all over the inside of my floor at 3 months old. I called GE customer service and they said they have no technicians in my area. I am just outside New York City. So I am kind of on my own. It's a self warranty!

The GE Clearview window AC is excellent, very efficient and quiet and it cools great too. I love how easy it is to install.I currently have two other window AC units similar to the GE but different, they are the Midea U window ac, they work good too, but have been recalled for mold. I like the GE much better and when I need to replace the other two, I will be buying two more GE Clearview window, ACs.

I rated this badly before because I didn't know that I was supposed to drain the inside every time I cleaned the filters and the pan overfilled and leaked everywhere so I drained it several times but it kept leaking and it wasn't draining outside at the time the pan overflowed so I thought something was broken it turns out it just took 3 days for the pan to drain all the way and no more dripping and it started draining outside again and it's running perfectly this AC unit is actually really nice it cools great and super quiet sometimes I have to check that it's on
